Caleb J. Figge, PhD is an Assistant Scientist at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, specializing in global mental health research. He holds a PhD in Clinical Child Psychology from DePaul University (2019), an MA from DePaul (2015), and a BA from the University of Utah (2012). His research focuses on expanding evidence-based mental health treatments in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), particularly in contexts such as Zambia, Uganda, and Cambodia. Dr. Figge leads NIH-funded projects on mental health integration and collaborates with global institutions like WHO, CDC, and USAID.
His research interests include trauma, posttraumatic stress, and culturally adapted interventions for children and adolescents in global settings. He explores social-ecological factors influencing mental health outcomes and works to address systemic barriers to mental healthcare access in LMICs. Dr. Figge’s work emphasizes clinician perspectives and community-driven solutions to ensure treatments align with local needs.
His articles highlight studies on child trauma in Cambodia, intimate partner violence impacts, and social determinants of mental health. Current projects include evaluating transdiagnostic care models in Zambia and mental health integration in Uganda. Dr. Figge also advises on large-scale global health initiatives, focusing on scalable, culturally sensitive interventions.
