Dr. Caleb Hubbard is an Assistant Professor in Communication Studies at Sam Houston State University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma, an M.A. from West Texas A&M University, and a B.A. from Xiamen University. His expertise spans popular culture's societal impact, fan-celebrity relationships, and political discourse in media.
Research examines parasocial interactions, fandom dynamics, and media representations. Projects include Marvel fandom hierarchies, Disney's gender portrayals, and celebrity political influence. Methods include experimental designs, surveys, and rhetorical analysis.
Publications analyze media narratives, fan behavior, and identity in popular culture. Recent work explores climate communication through Spanish-language media and masculinity in animation.
Received teaching nominations and research awards including Top Paper Award (ECA, 2024). Teaches courses in pop culture communication, visual rhetoric, and humor studies.
