معرفی
Caitlín Barrett is a Research Fellow in the Department of Classical Studies. Her research explores cultural hybridity and theological interpretations of the Egyptian Nile Inundation in the Greco-Roman world through the study of Nilotic scenes—mosaics and wall paintings from the Hellenistic period and Roman Empire that depict the Nile in flood.
Her work challenges conventional views that these scenes are purely comical or derogatory, instead arguing for a serious engagement with Egyptian theological traditions. This is supported by iconographic parallels in Egyptian religious art and archaeological contexts in Campania, suggesting a nuanced synthesis of cultural and religious practices.
