Caitlyn Bishop is an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Maker Space Coordinator at the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D), where she supports students in the College of Fine Arts through technical instruction and hands-on guidance in the 3D Lab and Maker Space. Her role combines teaching foundations in fine art with practical training in digital and traditional fabrication tools.
Her research and artistic interests lie at the intersection of natural systems and material-based art, particularly inspired by fungi and slime molds. She emphasizes process-driven creation and experimental making. Her work encourages students to explore new techniques in sculpture and fabrication to expand their creative possibilities.
As 3D Lab Technician, she conducts safety training, maintains equipment, and leads workshops in framing and panel-making. The 3D Lab is equipped with table saws, bandsaws, drill presses, and hand tools, while the Maker Space includes 3D printers, a laser cutter, CNC machine, milling machine, and soldering stations—reflecting a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary making.
Caitlyn earned her BA in Sculpture from York College of Pennsylvania and her MFA in Sculpture from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Her teaching philosophy centers on empowering students by building confidence through technical mastery, enabling them to realize their artistic visions more fully.
