CLAUDIA GERARD

Claudia Gerard is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Obstetrics & Gynecology and the College of Nursing at the University of Utah. She has been a certified nurse-midwife since 1988, with clinical expertise in holistic care and maternal-neonatal health. Her roles include outpatient care, labor/delivery support, and clinical education of nurse-midwifery and women's health students. She co-instructs simulation courses for clinical practice and trains global healthcare providers through PRONTO International to reduce maternal/neonatal mortality in Kenya, Timor Leste, and India.

Research interests focus on advancing midwifery practices, simulation-based education, and global health interventions. She has received multiple awards including the 2016 Honors for Nursing and 2006 Faculty Practice Award.

• Teaching: Courses include Simulation for Women’s Health, Advanced SIM for Nurse Midwives, and Ambulatory/Inpatient SIM for Women’s Health

Active in professional service, she holds DEA and Utah midwifery certifications. Her work emphasizes empowering women to manage their healthcare holistically.
