Dr. Charissa C.C. Roossien is an Assistant Professor in Medical Device Design at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering and Faculty of Medical Sciences. She leads research in personalized smart sensing and intervention devices for healthcare, focusing on wearable technologies and biomedical engineering. Her work bridges engineering and medicine, with affiliations to the Engineering and Technology Institute Groningen (ENTEG) and roles as a member of the Prothesis Academy and Figurehead at HTRIC.
Research interests include biomechanical assessment of fractures, exoskeleton design validation, and microfluidic biosensors. Notable projects include the Health Tracker for respiratory and metabolic analysis (funded by a €1.8M JTF subsidy) and the BPatch continuous blood pressure monitoring system.
