Büşra Tonyali is a Researcher in the Department of Chemistry Education at the University of Duisburg-Essen. She has been a research assistant since September 2018 in the project "Feedback in the traineeship on external representations (FiRe 2)", funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Her work focuses on improving pre-service teachers' use of external representations in science education through feedback mechanisms.
Education:
- Master of Education in Biology and Chemistry (2018), University of Duisburg-Essen
- Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry (2016), University of Duisburg-Essen
- Bachelor studies in Biology and Mathematics (2013), University of Duisburg-Essen
- High school diploma from Leibniz-Gymnasium (2012)
Research Interests: Her research emphasizes feedback's role in teacher professional development, particularly in designing effective instructional materials using external representations. She investigates how feedback impacts pre-service teachers' knowledge and beliefs about representations in chemistry and biology education. Key areas include online learning tools, adaptive feedback systems, and curriculum design.
Publications & Projects: Her work has been presented at conferences like NARST, ESERA, and GDCh. She co-developed an online learning module with feedback mechanisms for secondary school chemistry education. Current research focuses on evaluating feedback effects on representational competence in teacher trainees.
Memberships: ESERA, GDCP, IZfB, NARST, ZLB.
