Assistant Professor Dr. Bülent ATALAY is a faculty member and Department Head at the Department of History of the Republic of Turkey, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Trakya University since 2017. He previously served as Department Head for Atatürk's Principles and Revolutionary History (2011–2015) and has been a Research Assistant (1991), Lecturer (1988), and Assistant Professor (2002) at the same institution.
- Education: BA in History from Fırat University (1987), MA in Deontology and History of Medicine from Trakya University (1993), PhD in Turkish History from Marmara University (2001).
Research interests include the Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarchate, Turkish-Greek relations, Balkan history, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the history of Turkish modernization. His work often examines religious institutions, minority dynamics, and geopolitical strategies in the late Ottoman and early Republican periods.
Publications trends focus on Balkan nationalism, Ottoman decline, and cultural identity, with recent attention to the impact of historical events like the National Pact and the Armistice of Mudros. He has contributed to international symposiums on Balkan politics and authored a book on the Fener Patriarchate's political activities (1908–1923).
