معرفی
Dr. Byron A. Adams is a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellow and Lecturer in Earth Sciences at University College London (UCL). He leads the Tectonic Geomorphology research group, focusing on the interplay of climate, tectonics, and surface processes in shaping landscapes. His work integrates field observations with geochemical analyses, remote sensing, and numerical modeling to understand long-term landscape evolution and short-term geohazards.
Research Interests:
- Quantitative analysis of tectonic and climatic controls on geomorphic processes
- Application of machine learning and remote sensing in geomorphology
- Thermochronology and geochronology techniques
- Landscape response to glaciation and tectonic deformation
Key Publications: His influential work includes studies on climate-erosion interactions (Science Advances, 2020), Himalayan tectonic influences (Treatise on Geomorphology, 2022), and SAR-based river network detection (IEEE Transactions, 2020). He has published over 20 peer-reviewed papers, with a focus on orogenic systems and active tectonics.
Scientific Awards:
- Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship (current)
Advising & Grants: Dr. Adams mentors MSc and PhD students (e.g., Jesse Zondervan, Elianna Toro Paz) and leads projects funded by the Royal Society. His group’s work is supported by state-of-the-art facilities at the London Geochronology Centre.
