Byoung-Suk Kweon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research focuses on the intersection of environmental design, human health, and social equity, particularly examining how natural and built environments influence children's well-being and academic performance.

Dr. Kweon's research explores environmental behavior, health impacts of urban design, school environments, landscape performance, and urban agriculture. She investigates how green spaces and sustainable landscape practices affect human well-being, particularly in educational settings.
Her funded projects include a $1.5 million Kresge Foundation study on healthy school siting policies in Michigan and a Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF) grant to document benefits of green schools. She has published extensively on topics like air pollution near schools, neighborhood satisfaction, and the role of green spaces in urban communities.
Dr. Kweon's recent publications examine economic impacts of stormwater management, psychophysiological effects of urban nature, and social value of ecosystem services. Her work bridges landscape architecture, environmental psychology, and public health.
