Buri Hani is an Associate Professor at the Fribourg School of Engineering and Architecture (HES-SO), focusing on architecture and sustainable construction. They specialize in wooden construction, sustainable architecture, and innovative solutions for reducing construction waste. Their research integrates environmental considerations with structural design.
Key projects include the SmartMob initiative (completed 2021), exploring user-centric office layouts and ergonomic furniture design to enhance workplace comfort. As the principal applicant, Hani collaborated with Jean-Michaël Taillebois on this project funded by Smart Living Lab (SLL).
Recent work includes a 2023 study on reusing concrete from demolished buildings for retaining walls, presented at the CisBAT conference. This research addresses challenges in deconstruction and normative compliance in sustainable construction.
