معرفی
Dr. Bumsu Lee is an Assistant Professor in the School of Physics and Applied Physics at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU), where he has worked since Fall 2019. His research focuses on quantum optics and experimental condensed matter physics for solid-state quantum materials, including 2D materials, topological materials, and hybrid organic functional materials.
- Education: Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Yonsei University (South Korea), Ph.D. in Physics from Rutgers University.
By coupling these materials with nanophotonics and plasmonics, Dr. Lee aims to understand their fundamental physics and develop advanced applications in photonics, optoelectronics, and quantum information technologies. His lab, the Q-squared Lab, actively recruits motivated undergraduate and graduate researchers.
Scientific Awards:
- NRC/ASEE Postdoctoral Research Publication Award (Apr. 2020)
- Montana Instruments Lab Startup Grant Award (Platinum) (Oct. 2019)
Dr. Lee teaches PHYS 420: Quantum Optics and maintains office hours online. The lab has produced notable achievements, including student recognitions like the Goldwater Scholarship for Lincoln Weber.
