Professor Bryony Beresford is a Co-Director of the Social Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the School for Business and Society, University of York. She has been with SPRU since 1991, leading diverse research projects focused on social policy and health-related issues.
Education:
- BSc (Hons), University of Surrey
- PhD, University of Exeter
Research Interests: Bryony specializes in supporting children, young adults, and older individuals with long-term conditions, including those with disabilities or autism. Her work also addresses parent-directed interventions for sleep and behavior management and stress in healthcare workforces. Recent projects include collaborations with external institutions like Northumbria University.
PhD Supervision:
- Lauren Avery (Interdisciplinary Global Development Centre) on disability rights in Brazil post-Zika outbreak
- Mary Barker (Department of Health Sciences) on mental well-being of children with life-limiting conditions
Roles: Bryony serves on the Leadership Team and mentors postgraduate researchers.
