Bryce Ferguson is an Assistant Professor of Engineering at Dartmouth College's Thayer School of Engineering, starting in Fall 2025. He holds a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and completed postdoctoral research at UC Berkeley's Departments of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and Civil & Environmental Engineering.
His research focuses on multi-agent systems, including control theory, machine learning, and game theory applications. Key areas include distributed autonomy for fleet robotics, network security, and socio-technical systems design. He explores mechanisms to optimize system performance through information design and incentive structures.
Education:
- PhD, Electrical & Computer Engineering, UC Santa Barbara (2024)
- MS, Electrical & Computer Engineering, UC Santa Barbara (2020)
- BS, Electrical & Computer Engineering, UC Santa Barbara (2018)
- AA, Mathematics, Santa Rosa Junior College (2016)
Research Contributions: His work emphasizes robustness in resource allocation, adversarial systems defense, and collaborative decision-making architectures. Notable projects include analyzing the efficacy of subsidies/tolls in congestion networks and designing information-signaling frameworks for Bayesian games. His publications span IEEE Transactions, CDC conferences, and arXiv preprints.
Awards & Recognition:
- Best Student Paper Finalist (2020), American Control Conference
Teaching & Mentorship: Currently teaches ENGS 107 (Bayesian Statistical Modeling) and mentors graduate students/postdocs. Previously taught courses in game theory, reinforcement learning, and control systems at UCSB.
Labs & Collaborations: Affiliated with the Center for Control, Dynamical Systems, and Computation (UCSB) and collaborates with institutions like Harvard, MIT, and Imperial College London on multi-agent systems research.
