Bryany Denning serves as a Research Associate at Aurora College's North Slave Research Centre in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Holding an MSc and MSW, she is concurrently a PhD Candidate in Global Health at the University of Geneva's Faculty of Medicine. With sixteen years of continuous residency in Yellowknife since 2008, she has developed extensive expertise in social epidemiology, child and family services, homelessness, and problematic substance use across governmental and NGO sectors.
Her educational trajectory includes advanced degrees in science and social work, culminating in doctoral research focused on substance use patterns within Northwest Territories communities. Denning's professional journey demonstrates deep regional commitment, transitioning from an initial eight-month assignment to long-term residency and leadership in Northern social services.
Research interests center on substance use epidemiology and its societal intersections with child welfare, homelessness, and public health disparities in Arctic communities. Her work bridges academic inquiry and practical policy implementation through her dual roles as a Geneva-based doctoral candidate and GNWT Senior Advisor, emphasizing community-centered approaches to complex social issues.
