Bryan Boyd

Bryan Boyd serves as Professor of Theatre and Theatre Program Director at George Fox University, where he leads the theatre design and technology program and directs the Theatre Design Institute summer continuing education series. With over 60 campus productions designed, he maintains an active professional practice designing scenery, lighting, projections, and other elements for regional theatres including Third Rail Repertory Theatre, Artists Repertory Theatre, and Broadway Rose Theatre Company. His corporate event design work spans global sportswear, software, and aerospace clients, supporting international events like the 2024 Paris Olympics and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.

Boyd holds an MFA degree and specializes in scenic design with extensions into lighting, projections, sound, and event design. His creative practice bridges academic theatre and large-scale commercial applications, demonstrating exceptional versatility across performance genres and technical disciplines. The Theatre Design Institute under his direction has become a vital professional development resource for theatre educators nationwide.

His recent design portfolio (2015-2022) reveals remarkable range across Shakespearean comedy, contemporary drama, and musical theatre, consistently integrating innovative projections and period-specific aesthetics while maintaining narrative clarity.
