Bruno Hamnell is a Research Fellow at the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences within Lund University, specializing in the intersection of Modern Intellectual History, Philosophy of History, and History of Knowledge. His current project, All is One: Holistic Knowledge Ideals and Controversies from the Turn of the Century to the Anthropocene, explores connections between knowledge, spirituality, and political thought in the 20th century.
- Education: PhD thesis on John Dewey and R.G. Collingwood’s thought in relation to philosophical idealism and political liberalism (2021).
- Research Focus: Critically examines holistic knowledge ideals, cultural criticism, and debates on historiography, identity, and trauma.
- Teaching Experience: Courses include philosophy of science, historical theory, history of liberalism, pedagogy, psychoanalysis, and transnational history (e.g., Haitian Revolution).
- Other Roles: Served as Secretary (2019–2021) for The Swedish Society for the History of Science and Ideas and created the Lychnos journal’s website.
