Brunilda Pali is a Research Fellow at KU Leuven's Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Criminology (2016) and has held postdoctoral fellowships (FWO, 2018) and lecturing roles at institutions like the University of Amsterdam and Vermont Law School. Her work focuses on restorative justice, penal systems, environmental justice, and smart city governance.
Education: B.A. Psychology (Bosphorus University), M.A. Gender Studies (CEU), M.Sc. Cultural Studies (Bilgi University).
Research interests include restorative justice frameworks, carceral abolitionism, environmental harm repair, and conflict resolution in intercultural contexts.
Key Projects:
- REGUIDE (BELSPO-funded): Reintegration of Belgian returnees via restorative approaches.
- Collaborations with CRED (Center for Ethics, Religion, and Detention) on prison education.
- Co-founder of the Leuven Restorative City initiative and member of the European Forum for Restorative Justice (Vice-Chair).
- Art-based environmental projects with The Voice of Nature Kinstitute.
Publications span journals like European Journal of Criminology, International Journal of Restorative Justice, and Community Development Journal, emphasizing policy critique, ethnographic research, and interdisciplinary approaches.
