Kuiper's research intertwines communication theory with Christian theology, examining cultural responses to media, language use in religious contexts, and gender dynamics in sports media. His recent publications discuss the symbolic significance of winter in Christian narratives and the theological implications of everyday holiness.
In 2024, he published an essay analyzing the carol "In the Bleak Midwinter" as a metaphor for divine communication in harsh contexts. The work explores how the song's winter imagery reflects the vulnerability of Christ's birth and its implications for modern faith practices, particularly in "melting frozen hearts" through spiritual transformation.
Kuiper's academic contributions include student collaborations on intercultural communication projects and leadership in the Forensics Program. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the sacredness of communication tools (cell phones, computers, etc.) and their ethical application in building community.
