University of California , Santa Barbara (UCSB)معرفی
Bruce Kendall is a Professor and Associate Dean at the Bren School of Environment, University of California, Santa Barbara. His research focuses on quantitative ecology, particularly population dynamics, conservation biology, and ecological modeling. He applies these methods to endangered species conservation and fisheries management.
Education: PhD in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona; BA in Physics from Williams College.
Research Interests: Population fluctuations, extinction risk modeling, individual growth in variable environments, and marine dispersal dynamics. His work bridges theoretical ecology with applied conservation challenges, including climate change impacts and invasive species management.
Recent Work Trends: Over the past decade, his publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to conservation, spatial ecology, and the integration of demographic heterogeneity into population models. He also explores the implications of environmental stochasticity on species persistence.
Advising & Grants: Supervises PhD students Kaili Brande (landscape ecology) and Sean Denny (wildlife conservation). His funded projects include studies on fish growth in estuaries, marine protected areas, and the evolutionary effects of trophy hunting.
Labs/Teams: Leads a research group focused on quantitative ecology, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on projects like coral reef recovery modeling and habitat suitability analysis.
