Bruce H. Chai

Bruce H. Chai is a Professor of Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He is affiliated with CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics, and serves as President of Crystal Photonics. His research focuses on advanced optical materials, including rare earth-ion-doped laser materials, nonlinear crystals, and scintillating crystals for medical imaging. Dr. Chai holds a PhD in Geology from Yale University.

His research interests span multiple disciplines, including the development of novel optical crystals for laser systems and medical applications, crystal growth techniques, and substrate materials for GaN laser diodes. He is recognized as a Fellow of the Optical Society of America.
