Bruce Edgar is a Professor of Oncological Sciences and an Adjunct Professor of Human Genetics at the University of Utah. His research focuses on cell growth, cell cycle regulation, stem cells, and metabolism in Drosophila and mouse models.
Edgar's work explores how stem cell control and metabolism regulate tissue regeneration and tumorigenesis. His lab employs genetic approaches, high-resolution imaging, and genome-wide profiling to dissect gene networks and cellular communities that modulate tissue growth in response to developmental and pathological cues.
Recent publications highlight trends in Drosophila gut regeneration, lipid metabolism's role in stem cell activation, and inter-cellular signaling mechanisms involving EGFR, JNK, and TOR pathways. These studies bridge fundamental questions in developmental biology with applications in cancer and regenerative medicine.
The Edgar Lab's projects include investigating intestinal stem cell dynamics, metabolic signaling in proliferation, and mechanisms of tissue homeostasis across species. Their techniques integrate molecular genetics, live imaging, and computational histological analysis.
