Bruce C. Thelen

Bruce C. Thelen is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Law School, where he serves as an adjunct clinical professor in the International Transactions Clinic. He is also a member of Dickinson Wright PLLC, chairing the firm’s international practice team, which spans multiple legal disciplines.

He has a notable specialization in automotive sector legal matters, representing global manufacturers and suppliers in complex international projects such as Formula 1 racing programs and electric vehicle startups. Additionally, he served as in-house international counsel for Chrysler Corporation for two years.

Thelen has held leadership roles in the International Bar Association, including membership on its governing council and chairing the International Commerce and Distribution Committee. He is a founding member of the German American Chamber of Commerce of Michigan and received the Order of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz), Germany’s highest civilian honor.
