Bruce Bowerman

Bruce Bowerman is a Professor of Biology at the University of Oregon, affiliated with the Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB). He holds a B.A. from Kansas State University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Francisco. His research focuses on cytoskeletal regulation during early embryogenesis in C. elegans, particularly microfilament and microtubule dynamics in asymmetric cell divisions.

Current projects investigate meiotic spindle assembly in oocytes and centrosome-dependent mitotic spindle regulation.

Publications highlight contributions to understanding microtubule-actomyosin interactions, oocyte maturation, and centriole biogenesis. His work bridges genetics and cell biology to uncover mechanisms governing embryonic development.
