Brooklyn Derksen is a Lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan College of Nursing, currently on leave. She combines clinical practice at the Royal University Hospital’s Emergency Department in Saskatoon with global health initiatives, focusing on emergency nursing and sustainable healthcare interventions in low-resource settings.
- Education: BSN, MN (Master of Nursing), Diploma in Tropical Nursing (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine), Emergency Nursing Certificate (ENC(C))
Her research emphasizes Global Health and Emergency Nursing, particularly in child mortality prevention through projects like Smart Discharges, which integrates risk prediction modeling and scalable solutions. She employs Qualitative and Mixed Methods approaches.

Global Health Partnerships: Collaborates with BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital’s Institute for Global Health on multi-site initiatives in Uganda, where she has served as an Emergency Nurse Educator for hospitals and universities.
