Brooke Kennedy is Senior Lecturer in Anthrozoology and Indigenous Knowledge at University of New England's School of Environmental and Rural Science. As a Gomeroi researcher, she investigates human-animal-environment relationships in Aboriginal contexts.
Education: Completed PhD on free-roaming dogs/cats in remote Aboriginal communities, examining impacts on humans and wildlife.
Research Leadership: Chief Investigator for RSPCA NSW's 'Keeping Cats Safe at Home' project, evaluating social education programs to reduce cat roaming. Teaches global wild canid ecology and traditional ecological knowledge.
Publications: Research spans wildlife conservation, ethical fauna management, and community-based animal solutions. Recent work (2023-2024) focuses on feline-wildlife interactions, bushfire response frameworks, and brumby market valuation. Earlier studies (2014-2021) established methods for engaging Indigenous communities in animal management.
