Brooke E. Wells is a Professor at Widener University’s Center for Human Sexuality Studies, specializing in sexual health behavior and HIV prevention. She holds a PhD in Social Psychology from the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research integrates social, developmental, and psychological factors influencing sexual decision-making, particularly in substance-involved contexts. Dr. Wells teaches interdisciplinary courses emphasizing critical thinking and writing skills, while mentoring students in applied research. She has received NIH funding for studies addressing sexual health among sexual minorities and was awarded a Hunter College Travel Grant in 2014.
Her research focuses on intersections between substance use, sexual behavior, and community health, with notable work on reality TV’s portrayal of relationships and long-term shifts in American sexual attitudes. Dr. Wells is affiliated with the American Psychological Association and Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.
