Dr. Bronwyn Brew is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Newcastle (since Feb 2023) and holds continued affiliation with the Karolinska Institute. She is an epidemiologist and biostatistician with a focus on paediatric/materna asthma and allergy, epigenetic effects of bushfire smoke, and genetic epidemiology.
- PhD in Early life nutrition and child outcomes (Sydney, 2014)
- Postdoc in Mental health during pregnancy (Karolinska, 2016-2018)
- Assistant Professor at Karolinska (2019-2022)
Her research spans:
- Maternal-child health (NHRMC & Swedish grants)
- Genetic comorbidities (asthma/T1D/allergies)
- Environmental health (bushfire smoke impacts)
- Methodological innovations (paternal negative control methods, DAG teaching tools)
Recent work focuses on climate change impacts (bushfire smoke), Indigenous respiratory health, and genetic-environmental interactions. She has >75 publications with 64% international collaborations.
