Bronwen Edwards

Dr Bronwen Edwards is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing at Leeds Beckett University, where she contributes to programs in Human Geography and Planning. Her interdisciplinary background combines academic training in geography and history with professional experience in museums, town planning, and architectural conservation.

Her research focuses on cultural and historical geographies, particularly around gender, sexuality, identity, and 20th-century consumption cultures. She explores the spatial dimensions of fashion, retail environments, architectural modernity, and heritage conservation practices. Her work bridges academic scholarship with public engagement, especially through heritage projects.

Dr Edwards is currently leading research on two key projects: one with Historic England titled 'Pride of Place: LGBTQ Heritage', which documents and maps LGBTQ histories across England, and another on British menswear retailers and their transatlantic market connections in the mid-20th century, supported by the Centre for Culture and the Arts. These projects reflect her commitment to uncovering marginalized narratives in cultural and spatial history.

She actively welcomes research students in areas such as 20th-century cultural history, architectural heritage, feminist geographies, retail landscapes, and fashion studies.
