Brock Bastian is an Honorary Professor at the School of Psychology, University of Queensland. His research focuses on social psychology, moral psychology, and intergroup relations, with particular emphasis on dehumanization, pain's social role, and essentialist beliefs.
His work explores how pain serves as a social glue, cultural differences in affective disorders, moral expansiveness, and the psychological mechanisms underlying dehumanization. He has collaborated extensively with scholars like Jolanda Jetten, Nick Haslam, and Matthew Hornsey.
