Britt Dahlberg, PhD, is the Director of the Center for Applied History at the Science History Institute in Philadelphia and an Associated Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She teaches qualitative and mixed methods and leads interdisciplinary research on the social practice and impact of science, health care, and technology in the contemporary United States.
Her research interests include:
- Understanding how environmental health scientists, government staff, and residents interpret potential environmental threats during urban redevelopment
- Exploring older Americans’ experiences and understandings of depression and its effect on primary care communication and diagnosis
- Developing innovative methods for public engagement in science and health dialogues
- Advancing mixed methods approaches in research design, writing, and grant applications
Dr. Dahlberg has contributed to the Sage Handbook of Mixed Methods and has published on the use of mixed methods in evaluating interventions. Her work emphasizes situated experiences of both health experts and lay individuals and promotes collaborative understanding across diverse perspectives.
