Britt Basel

Britt Basel is an Adjunct Professor affiliated with Wageningen University & Research's Department of Water Resources Management. Her research focuses on community-based adaptation measures for drought risk reduction and groundwater management, with 21 years of experience across 44 countries in climate policy, disaster risk reduction, and community engagement. She specializes in bridging policy and implementation at local, national, and international scales.

Her research interests emphasize climate change adaptation in the Pacific region and Latin America, integrating technical and participatory approaches. She has published 3 peer-reviewed papers, a book chapter, and contributed to 12 technical reports. Britt teaches climate policy and resilience courses for Harvard’s Youth Climate and Global Health Summit, Oberlin College, Northern Michigan University, and Sterling College Vermont. Additionally, she is a National Geographic photographer with 13 years of experience, producing films and visual storytelling on environmental themes.

Britt’s work spans policy development, national park adaptation strategies, and grassroots community planning, aiming to enhance climate resilience through inclusive practices.
