Briony Widdis is a Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast's School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from Ulster University (2020) and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her work focuses on colonialism's legacies in Ireland, museum decolonization, and community partnerships in cultural heritage. She lectures in Anthropology, Public History, and Museum Studies.

Research interests include empire's impact on social justice, cultural institutions' accountability, and decolonial methodologies. Recent projects (2023-2025) explore MENII Voices and museum-object afterlives through ESRC-funded initiatives. She co-edited the 2023 Routledge volume on museums and empire.
Publications (2020-2025) analyze colonial materiality, autoethnography, and institutional decolonization. Awards include ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship (2020), and contributions to policy-driven initiatives like the AHRC Connected Curriculum Network. She has organized conferences such as 'Ireland, Museums, Empire, Colonialism' (2022) and led workshops on inclusive global histories.
