Briget Eastep is an Associate Professor and Director of Outdoor Engagement at Southern Utah University (SUU), affiliated with the College of Education and Human Development. She holds a Ph.D. in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism from the University of Utah (2004), with prior studies at the University of New Mexico and Cornell College. Her work focuses on experiential education, service learning, and public lands stewardship, emphasizing hands-on learning through programs like the EDGE capstone and Adventure Orientation. She co-founded the Intergovernmental Internship Cooperative (IIC), which places students in internships with federal/state agencies, tribal partners, and SUU. Her research includes monitoring recreation impacts at Red Cliff Desert Reserve and the Arizona Strip. Notable awards include the 2016 Director’s Partnership Award from the National Park Service. Eastep teaches courses on outdoor project planning, Leave No Trace training, and recreation skills.
