Donna Lister is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Nursing at Southern Utah University (SUU), where she has been since 2005. She leads a program that has grown by 50% and achieves a 100% first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate for graduating classes. She holds a BSN from the University of Utah, an MSN from Brigham Young University (certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner), and a PhD in Education (Higher Education) from Walden University, alongside a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential.
With over 30 years in clinical nursing (acute care, long-term care, public health, etc.) and 23 years in nursing education, Lister teaches courses like Foundations of Professional Nursing and Contemporary Issues. Her research interests focus on nursing education processes, rural health, and current healthcare challenges. She actively serves on the Cedar City Hospital Board of Trustees, chairs the Board Quality and Patient Safety committee, and participates in the State Board of Nursing Education Committee.
Lister emphasizes student development, stating her goal is to prepare future nurses to make meaningful impacts. She collaborates with a dedicated faculty team to ensure comprehensive student training. Beyond academia, she manages a family ranch and enjoys gardening, family time, and creative pursuits.
