Bridget Kies is an Instructor in Film Studies and LGBT Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media (Columbia College Chicago, 2006) and an MA in Media, Cinema and Digital Studies (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 2013), and is completing a PhD in Media, Cinema and Digital Studies. A graduate of Lake Forest College (2002), she studied French and pursued independent scholarship, with internships at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées (Paris) and Goodman Theatre (Chicago). She received a Fulbright recommendation for an English Language Teaching Assistantship in France (2002–2003).
Her career path was shaped by study abroad experiences and arts administration insights gained during her Paris internship. Key milestones include founding a performance group, running a nonprofit, and teaching abroad in France. She emphasizes global perspectives in her academic work, informed by multilingualism and intercultural collaborations.
Teaching highlights include 11 years of instruction, primarily at the university level. Her research focuses on media and cultural studies, with presentations across the U.S. and internationally.
