Briant Becote

Dr. Briant Becote serves as a Professor of Cyber Security at the University of Advancing Technology (UAT), leveraging his extensive 27-year military career (4 years Army National Guard, 23 years US Navy) to educate future technology leaders. Retiring from active Navy service as a Lieutenant Commander and Naval Flight Officer in December 2023, he brings unparalleled real-world security expertise to the classroom.

His academic credentials include:

• PhD in Cyber Operations from Dakota State University
• MS in Computer Science from DePaul University
• MA in Organizational Psychology from Northcentral University
• BA in Psychology from American Military University

Dr. Becote's research spans both offensive and defensive cyber operations with specialized focus on malware analysis, programming, wireless technology, and incident response. His military experience included high-level positions such as Director of International Affairs for Egypt and Qatar, and Director of Tactical Operations Center for Maritime Aviation in the Middle East, providing students with unique insights into global cybersecurity operations.

As a PMP and CISSP certified professional, he emphasizes practical application of security principles while drawing from his diverse military background that ranged from Surface Sonar Technician to Naval Flight Officer operating P-3 Orion, P-8 Poseidon, and MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft systems across 25+ countries.
