Brianna Larsen is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Southern Queensland, affiliated with the School of Health and Medical Sciences and the Centre for Health Research. She holds a BExSpSc (2010), BExSpSc(Hon) (2011), and PhD (2016) from Deakin University. Her research focuses on menstrual cycle effects on athletic performance, heat stress management in emergency workers, and hormonal contraceptive knowledge among athletes. She has led grants such as the QLD Government Sexual Health Research Fund (2024) and Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) funding (2023). Notable work includes examining menstrual cycle impacts on team sports and developing educational resources for female athletes. Her publications span journals like *Sports*, *Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport*, and *Military Medicine*. She acts as an associate supervisor for masters students.
Research interests include elite athlete health, gender-specific sport physiology, and occupational health for emergency responders. Recent studies address knowledge gaps among athletes and coaches regarding menstrual cycles and contraceptives. Collaborations include Basketball New Zealand for health infographics targeting female athletes.
Grants and supervision highlight her focus on applied sport science and public health. She has investigated firefighter performance in extreme conditions and military personnel’s musculoskeletal pain management. Her work bridges clinical insights with practical applications in sports and occupational settings.
