Brian Willems, Ph.D., is a full professor of literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and film theory at the Arts Academy in Split, Croatia. His academic career spans institutions in the USA, UK, and continental Europe, where he has served as a guest professor.
Willems' research and publications explore intersections of literature, film theory, speculative realism, and science fiction, with a focus on philosophical and cultural analyses. His authored books include Speculative Realism and Science Fiction (Edinburgh University Press, 2017) and Shooting the Moon (Zero Books, 2015).
He contributes to editorial work as a Copy Editor for the Journal of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences since 2020. Willems also engages in new media curation, with exhibitions in Croatia and Slovenia.
