Dr. Adam Dalton is an Hourly Academic in the School of Arts at Middlesex University, where he teaches English Literature and Creative Writing. He has previously taught at Falmouth University, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the University of Manchester, and has served as Programme Leader for the BA English and MA Media Management programs. He currently supervises six PhD students and acts as External Examiner for the MA Creative Writing at Edinburgh Napier University.

Adam Dalton's research and creative work centers on speculative fiction, fantasy, science fiction poetry, and literary theory. His interests include the socio-political dimensions of fantasy, identity in genre literature, mythological reinterpretations (particularly Norse mythology), and the critique of cultural appropriation in vampire studies. He explores themes of AI relationships, neurodiversity, digital culture, and environmental gothic in both poetry and scholarly writing.
His recent publications (2023–2024) span poetry collections, edited anthologies, and academic articles. Trends show a strong focus on speculative poetry, horror verse, and critical analysis of genre literature. His poetic work often blends myth, futurism, and existential inquiry, while his scholarly output interrogates power, identity, and cultural narratives in SFF.

Adam Dalton supervises PhD students in English Literature and Creative Writing, with a focus on fantasy, crime, speculative fiction, sci-fi, and YA literature. He has edited several themed collections including The Book of Witches, The Book of Demons, and The Book of the Dead. He also runs the online storytelling community Creative Writing HQ on behalf of Middlesex University.
His creative and academic work is supported by a broad engagement with literary communities, festivals, and publishing in the SFF and poetry spheres. He is actively involved in both teaching and research, with a growing body of interdisciplinary work that bridges creative practice and literary scholarship.
