Brian Weeden is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University's Center for Security Studies (CSS) and Director of Program Planning at the Secure World Foundation. He specializes in space policy, national security, and public policy, with over 20 years of experience in space operations and policy development. His work focuses on space sustainability, international space governance, and strategic defense.
Dr. Weeden holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University, an M.S. in Space Studies from the University of North Dakota, and a Ph.D. in Science and Technology Policy from George Washington University. He previously served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, working in space and ICBM operations.
His research interests include the commercial space sector, international science and technology policy, and legal challenges in space debris removal. He has held roles in organizations such as the World Economic Forum's Council on the Future of Space Technologies, NOAA's Advisory Committee on Commercial Remote Sensing, and the Consortium for Execution of Rendezvous and Servicing Operations (CONFERS).
His publications address issues like Chinese counterspace capabilities, orbital debris mitigation, and policy frameworks for space sustainability. He actively contributes to global discussions on space security and governance.
