Brian Stanko

Brian Stanko is a Professor of Accounting and Business Law at Loyola University's Quinlan School of Business. He has served as Chair of the Accounting and Business Law program since 2005 and Director of the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program since 2007. His academic career includes teaching courses in Intermediate Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Issues in Financial Reporting at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Dr. Stanko holds a PhD from the University of Kentucky and MBA/BS degrees from Eastern Illinois University. His research focuses on corporate annual reports, financial reporting standards (IFRS/GAAP), and student employment perceptions. Notable projects include analyzing lease accounting implications, human asset valuation, and environmental accounting practices.

He has contributed over 20 peer-reviewed articles and authored/co-authored multiple textbooks on accounting essentials and corporate reporting, including Business & Accounting Essentials: A McDonald's E-Learning Project. His professional service includes advising Beta Alpha Psi for over 15 years and serving as Loyola's Faculty Athletic Representative for a decade.

Recipient of the 2010 Quinlan Faculty Member of the Year award and 2011 Dean’s Service Award, Stanko is actively affiliated with the American Accounting Association, AICPA, and serves as a manuscript reviewer for journals like Business Ethics Quarterly.
