Brian Santana

Dr. Brian Santana is an Assistant Professor of English and Director of Rhetoric and Composition at Shepherd University. He joined the Department of English and Modern Languages in 2015, previously teaching at Georgia Southern University. His academic background includes a B.A. in Theatre History/Criticism from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, an M.A. in English from North Carolina State University, and a Ph.D. in American Studies from The George Washington University.

His research focuses on early American literature, New England print culture, composition pedagogy, and race in American literature. He has authored two books: *William Lloyd Garrison and American Abolitionism in Literature and Memory* (2016) and *The Cinema of Rob Zombie: The Social and Political Philosophy of Post-9/11 Horror* (2023). His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary cultural critique, emphasizing how memory and media shape societal narratives.

Dr. Santana’s teaching spans first-year writing, American literature, and interdisciplinary studies. He actively engages with both scholarly and popular cultural discourse, reflecting his dual expertise in historical literature and modern media analysis.
