Brian P. Gorman

Brian P. Gorman is an Associate Professor at the Colorado School of Mines, affiliated with the Colorado Center for Advanced Ceramics within the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering department. He specializes in advanced materials characterization techniques, particularly Atom Probe Tomography (APT) and Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM).

• Education: PhD, MS, and BS in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Missouri–Rolla.

Research interests focus on improving atomic-scale tomography through correlative electron microscopy and diffraction. His work addresses geometric inaccuracies in APT data reconstruction by integrating quantitative electron microscopy measurements.

Scientific awards: Recipient of the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award (2006) from Oak Ridge Associated Universities.

Labs and research centers: Leads the CCAC Atom Probe Tomography Laboratory and is affiliated with the International Center for Multiscale Characterization.
