معرفی
Brian O’Meara is a Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and the Interim Director of NIMBioS. His work focuses on advancing phylogenetic methods to study evolutionary processes across morphological, behavioral, and biochemical diversity.
- Education:
- Ph.D., University of California, Davis (2008)
Research interests center on developing computational tools for understanding trait evolution, species diversification, and phylogenetic analysis. Notable projects include modeling trait evolution rates, analyzing gene loss dynamics, and leveraging supermatrices from GenBank.
Publications highlight his contributions to phylogenetics, including studies on Centrarchid fish morphology, continuous trait evolution, and large-scale phylogenetic databases. His work bridges theoretical and empirical approaches in evolutionary biology.
Mentorship: He actively seeks Ph.D. students and has mentored numerous postdocs through NIMBioS. Contact: bomeara@utk.edu | Office: 446 Hesler | Lab: 569 Dabney Hall.
