Brian O'Connor is a Full Professor of Philosophy at University College Dublin's School of Philosophy. He holds degrees from prestigious institutions including a DPhil from Oxford University and a DLitt from the National University of Ireland. His research focuses on critical theory, German idealism, and the works of Adorno, Hegel, and Schopenhauer. He has authored influential monographs such as Idleness: A Philosophical Essay and Adorno, and co-edited volumes including Transitional Subjects: Critical Theory and Object Relations. O'Connor has secured grants like the HoS Research Support Scheme and teaches modules on Nietzsche, German Idealism, and the Philosophy of History. His recent articles engage with themes like Adorno's philosophical subjectivity, Hegelian metaphysics, and Freudian death drive theory.
