Brian Lowes

Brian Lowes, M.D., Ph.D., is the William Dodge Angle Professor of Cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), part of the College of Medicine. Previously, he held an Associate Professor position in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Colorado. His clinical expertise includes mechanical cardiac support systems, heart transplantation, and advanced heart failure management. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of cardiac remodeling, particularly exploring genetic and epigenetic factors in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) through initiatives like the DCM Precision Medicine Study.

Dr. Lowes’ academic credentials include an M.D. from Wayne State University and a Ph.D. in molecular mechanisms from the University of Colorado. His training includes residency in internal medicine and cardiology fellowships at the University of Colorado.
