Brian Kelly is an Associate Dean for Development and Faculty Affairs and Professor in the Architecture Program at the University of Maryland's School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. He holds a Master of Architecture from Cornell University (1987) and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame (1981). His expertise spans campus planning, institutional history, sustainable design, and the interplay between built environments and natural landscapes.
Professionally, Kelly has collaborated with firms like Skidmore Owings & Merrill, Peterson-Littenberg, and Ayers Saint Gross, leading major campus planning projects for institutions including the University of Notre Dame, University of Virginia, and University of Maryland. His scholarly work explores teaching methodologies, design processes, and the integration of historical traditions with modern architectural practices.
Outside academia, Kelly is an accomplished artist, exhibiting architectural watercolors and drawings nationally. Notable exhibitions include the traveling exhibition Lines of Inquiry: The Architectural Drawings of Brian Kelly (2010), showcasing his field sketches and speculative designs.
