Dr. Brian James Goodfellow is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Aveiro. His research focuses on NMR structural studies of metalloproteins and heme-binding proteins, metabolomics applications in health sciences, and spectroscopic characterization of biomaterials.
Current projects include metabonomic studies of lung cancer and prenatal disorders, development of NMR-based clinical diagnostics, and functional studies of SOUL/HBP heme-binding proteins. Research employs NMR spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and FTIR techniques.
Teaching responsibilities include Bioinformatics and Molecular Structure, Bioinorganic Chemistry, and Biochemistry laboratory courses. He has supervised multiple PhD and Master's students in protein NMR and metabolomics research.
