معرفی
Brian J Willett is a Professor of Viral Immunology at the University of Glasgow, affiliated with the Virology department. His research focuses on viral immunology with emphasis on SARS-CoV-2 immunity and morbillivirus transmission dynamics. Prof. Willett leads investigations into antibody responses, viral evolution, and vaccine effectiveness using advanced serological assays.
Research interests center on understanding immunity to SARS-CoV-2, including variant evasion mechanisms (Beta, Delta, Omicron), cross-species morbillivirus transmission risks (particularly canine distemper virus), and developing pseudotype-based neutralization assays for diverse viruses. His work bridges human and animal health with implications for pandemic preparedness.
Recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate strong focus on COVID-19 epidemiology, including seroprevalence studies across populations (UK, Malawi, Tanzania), vaccine effectiveness in vulnerable groups (elderly, immunocompromised), and zoonotic transmission dynamics. Research consistently addresses viral evolution, immune evasion, and public health interventions.
Prof. Willett collaborates extensively with the Centre for Virus Research (CVR) and UK healthcare communities, investigating virus-host interactions through combined laboratory and population-level studies.
